Rehabilitation medicine involves a high level of patient contact. Many Rehabilitation Physicians find it is especially rewarding to build long-term, meaningful relationships with patients and their families, who are important in supporting the patient throughout the rehabilitation period and beyond. Rehabilitation services cater to a wide age spectrum ranging from young children with congenital limb anomalies to young people with severe brain or spinal cord injury and the elderly with neurodegenerative conditions.
