The Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) accredits laboratories for pathology training, approves supervised training undertaken in an accredited laboratory and conducts examinations leading to certification as a qualified pathologist and Fellow of the College (FRCPA). The RCPA training program is linked with the training programs of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Haematology, Microbiology/Infectious Diseases, Immunopathology and Chemical Pathology/Endocrinology. A comprehensive overview of the training program is available in the trainee handbook on the college website. Prospective pathology trainees are strongly advised to consult the relevant state or regional councilor before applying to train.
Trainees receive the college newsletter, Pathology Today, the journal Pathology, notice of scientific meetings and other information. Access is also provided to the password protected area of the RCPA website, which holds past examination papers, course notes, discussion forums and educational modules and videos.
