Training is normally full time. A minimum of five full time equivalent years of certified training in accredited laboratories must be completed.
For joint training with the RACP, one year is retrospectively accredited for physician training. Part-time training may be considered in certain instances, but must average at least 8 hours per week.
The number of years of training required in these cases is determined on a pro rata basis.
