Basic training is 3 years full time and may be entered following the completion of internship.
Advanced training in general paediatrics is for three years following completion of basic training. A minimum of two of these must spent working in core clinical terms. Core clinical terms include four compulsory six month rotations which include:
The remaining year of training may be spent doing tasks such as research, further clinical work in specialties of interest or even overseas volunteer work. These activities must be pre-approved by the specialist advisory committee which overseas training.
