MWIA Western Pacific Regional Congress: Melbourne, October 2008

AFMW is proud to announce that it will be hosting the Medical Women's International Association Western Pacific Regional Congress in Melbourne on October 17-19, 2008. The Congress theme is "Women Doctors in the Asia Pacific: Bridging Barriers".

The Congress will be held at the Sofitel in the heart of Melbourne and will be an inspiring event attended by medical women from around the Asia-Pacific.

The Congress Themes are

  • The Environment and Health
  • Impact of Violence/War/Terrorism on Women and Children
  • Professional Issues for Women in Medicine
  • Innovations in Health Promotion
  • Infections and Vaccines
  • Advocacy and Health Politics

At the Congress we will

  • identify and discuss effective ways in which women doctors bridge barriers through advocacy
  • discuss overcoming regional issues that adversely affect the health and well-being of women children
  • describe innovations and interventions used to promote health and prevent illness
  • explore global and local environmental issues as determinants of public health, and
  • identify professional issues and discuss solutions for women in medicine
