Innovation in vascular surgery goes beyond the fast evolving device and related technologies developed to take on new and more complex challenges in the era of endovascular interventions. A need to redefine the education and training needs for both the training and the practicing vascular surgeon becomes as crucial as the devices that we employ for the treatment of vascular surgery.
The principles on which we base the practice of vascular surgery in the modern era originates from the initial work of the pioneer innovators; those that had little instrumentation beyond clinical and surgical skills to develop the practice of vascular surgery as a discipline in its own right. This proud tradition of acknowledging and celebrating our innovators and educators, in both the modern era and the past, continues in Vascular 2008.
This is a conference for vascular surgeons although those looking to enter the training program are encouraged to attend.
