The Herald Sun published a survey of 1800 Victorian doctors today, examining the medical profession's thoughts on topics such as working hours, the state of the public health system and the medical workforce shortage. The survey was confidential and was distrubuted to AMA members.
The results are not surprising with 50% of doctors working more than 50 hours a week on average and 88% of doctors strongly agreeing that there is a medical workforce shortage. There was concern amongst those surveyed that the public was losing faith in the public hospital system. The report highlights the ongoing concerns of many in the medical profession that we are overworked and under pressure to comply with increasing workloads with limited resources.
