The Doctor's e-cohort is a longitudinal study which aims to examine the factors influencing the careers decisions of Australian doctors and medical students, and the recruitment and retention of doctors in metropolitan, rural and remote regions.

The study is driven by the current shortage of doctors in Australia and the poor distribution of medical practitioners in Australia. The study will operate over a five year period and all doctors and medical students are encouraged to participate, including those who are not currently practicing or have changed careers.
