Check out this website - the Australian Indigenous Medical Electives Database - which aims to involve medical students in indigenous health. It features a database of indigenous health placements which can be undertaken as an elective. No two communities are alike and there are numerous placements to explore. Those who have undertaken indigenous electives are encouraged to share their experiences to help build the growing database.
The site also offers information on scholarships and upcoming indigenous health conferences amongst others. It has been established under an indigenous health award provided by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and the Australian Primary Health Care Research Institute (APHCRI).
