The reward of a very grateful patient to have a knee that no longer hurts or gives way.
What are some of the challenges of being in your specialty?
Learning to deal with all the different personalities and the way that affect patient care
What are some of the things that you did to help you decide and plan your career for this specialty?
I was always interested in sport and was very manual as a young boy (carpentry etc), so orthopaedic surgery was a good fit with my interests and skill set.
What advice do you have for students and junior doctors interested in your specialty?
Work very hard to get to the top. Learn the rules of “the game” thoroughly.
What do you do outside of medicine to relax?
Race cars, ride a bike, travel
